Of course temperatures looked normal on the GPU side because the die itself was cooled just fine, but keep in mind there are no sensors on the VRAM/caps/voltage regulators so there is no real way to find out about their well being. One of the heat sinks that was glued onto a row of VRAM modules did get loose and was just hanging in the big GPU heat sinks, so whenever the VRAM on the card was taxed harder (and reached certain temperatures) my machine would just crash and reboot. If I tune down settings, I can play without crashes, any clue what's the problem? How can I fix it? What might be causing the problem? Never tweaked (OC'ed and never messed w/ settings) my GPU, each and every time I do a clean install GPU driver. I used to play those above mentioned games with ease at max settings, nowadays I cannot, games keep on getting crashed if I play at max, but temps are normal only. For past one year or so, I can no longer play games DotA 2, CS: GO, Rocket League, BF4 at max settings. I bought my EVGA GTX 760 SC W/ ACX, as soon it's been released back in 2013 I guess. I didn't straightaway narrowed the problem to GPU, borrowed my friends gpus tested those with mine, it only happens when I've my GTX 760 plugged in. I've re-installed Windows a few times, even I went back to Windows 7 Ultimate edition to see whether the problem still persists or not, the problem persists.

Base installation, debloat it, update it and other software til the point where you last saw good performance.ĩ9% of windows problems can be solved by just reinstalling windows, takes less than an hour now anyway Just if you want to kill all the birds with one boulder instead of trying to find the one bird to hit with a pebble, i suggest you put all your games and important stuff on a separate drive, and then format your main drive, reinstall windows. This is almost definitely a software issue. Power limit problems wouldnt cause slowdowns, it would cause hard crashes when the card cant get the power it needs. Ive got cards that are over a decade old running on systems that were run 24/7 for a decade using the same PSU as it came with, ive never heard of caps drying out on anything that new. Im 100% certain its not the card causing the problem, im willing to bet you've got something causing a lot of hardware overhead (in the case of those games, its more likely the CPU is being maxed out by something in the background).
